Recipe and Party Report

Several asked for this recipe after we had these at Luke’s birthday gathering. I got the recipe from Misty, who I think got the recipe from Pam… Tantalizing meatball recipe

Preheat oven to 350.

3 lb. hamburger
2 c. oatmeal (quick oats)
small onion (I used just 1/4 of it since Luke doesn’t care much for onions)
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
large can evaporated milk
2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs
Mix all together, form into 1 in. balls. Place in a 9×13 in. pan and bake for 40 minutes. Then drain off grease.

Glaze: 2 cups ketchup
2 c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. liquid smoke
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
chopped onion (optional)

Mix the above and poor over the meatballs. Put back in the oven for another 20-25 minutes.

Now party report-Luke had a blast! He turned five on the 17th and had been counting down the days until his “real birthday” (aka the party). One of his gifts was a remote control sports bike. Well, the battery pack had to be charged 5 hours. So he patiently waited. And then, after 5 hours, we found out the outlet didn’t work. :( So he had to wait until this afternoon to try it out. He had a lot of fun. And so did his Dad. :)

I used my sewing machine on this one. You just can’t see it with the scan. I made a large heart. That goes around the title onto both pages. And Then in in the left hand corner and on the right side. Just imagine. ;)

First it was cold again,

and then it warmed up again. And then we all got SICK!!!! Including me. First night I am actually sitting up and thinking at the same time. I owe a huge amount of thanks to Matheau, and our Mom’s for help. And I owe lots of thanks for everyone praying for us.

And, I am a lousy sick person. And I don’t remember the last time I was sick for seven days like this. Never that I can remember.

So glad the birthday party for Luke isn’t until Jan. 28. If you haven’t heard from me yet. His party will be the 28th. 1ish. I haven’t called because I haven’t had a voice. :) Sorry. I am praying this week is much, much better then last. Matheau said I broke records for the most days I haven’t had out my camera. He is right. I will try to get a few next week. I didn’t even get Luke on his official birthday-it was that bad…

For those of you wondering. The cutie in the fist photo is a friend of Luke’s who comes over and plays for a bit after preschool. :) Notice Alli in the denim skirt she wakes up asking to wear every morning!!! And Liz has lost her mittens-intentionally. And no, Luke’s friend didn’t drop the monster snowball on Luke’s head. ;)

This little gal hasn’t been feeling well…

So I took her to the Dr. today. She has an ear infection as well as some other junk. I think her antibiotic was already starting to work. Tonight she was acting much more like her hyper little self. She started something new today. She will tickle herself by her belly button, and with a deep throated voice say "tikle, tikle" and grin. That is where she likes to be tickled, now she knows how to tell us she is waiting to be tickled. Aren't kids amazing?

Sorry for the not-so-often posts.

Matheau is wanting us to switch our blogging system. (I forgot the technical name for it.) And I have been trying to figure it out. It is going to rock once I get it figured out. But, it is more of a website format then blog-thus a bit more difficult for me.

I did want to let you know that I found my old Narnia book set today. I bought them when I was in the fifth grade. I remember the first time I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-laying on the couch in our home in Dickinson, ND… Oh the sweet memories. Now I can’t wait to start reading them to the kids. At least the older two. :) I know you are all as jazzed to hear that as I was to find them. {wink}

It felt like May 1, not January 1 today.

Beautiful weather today. I think it had to be in the sixties. My kind of January. [grin] We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great new year’s eve.
