A recipe to share.

Blueberry Gateau.I don’t know if it is just my posting early in the day, or my memory is getting really bad, but I keep trying to post a link to the recipe and can’t seem to do it correctly. So here you go. blueberrygateau_recipecard1.pdf

Ever since our blueberry picking day I have been wanting to post this recipe. It is one of my favorites, and the first dessert I make with our fresh blueberries every year. I hope you enjoy it.

Summer math games.

liz_summermath.jpg

First thing to do after returning from the garden is to count how much produce we brought in. Liz was in charge of beans, Alli in charge of cucumbers and tomatoes. The next job, cutting the flowers to go in all the vases…

And for picking flowers or baking bread. The first of three aprons I am working on for sale…

In the garden.

This is how our garden is looking right now. Everyday we have been gathering cucumbers, a few small tomatoes and sweet potato squash, and lots of flowers.

Sugar cookies, vegetables, & an apron or two.

Sale day today-in front of the Redlogic building. We should be there from 10-11:30 this morning. :) If I get a chance in between frosting cookies, I’ll post a photo of the aprons.

We’ll also have some bouquets of zinnias for a great deal!

Hannah’s stuffed crust pizza.

I’ve been getting back into the routine of letting the children do the meal planning for the week. Hannah’s request was for cheese stuffed crust pizza. To make sure it happened (because the last time Mom got too busy and forgot to stuff the crust), she did it herself. It was awesome!  hannah_stuffedcrst.jpg

celebrations…

anniversarycard_08.jpg

Last week was Matheau and my 13th anniversary. I posted the day after and somehow the post totally disappeared. We started our celebration early with a gift card from my Super Chick to The Cheesecake Factory and child care from Jason and Rochelle. We even hit a movie while we were in Kansas City. (Thanks Super Chick and Rochelle & Jason.) On the day of, we took the kids swimming and finished up the BBC’s Robin Hood (season 1) series. Both great ways to celebrate.             I think the amazing thing about celebrating anniversaries is they are not guaranteed like a birthday. Every year as long as you are alive when a certain date rolls around, it is your birthday-it is a given. Not so with anniversaries. To be able to celebrate that particular day, two people, a husband and a wife, must have made the choice every SINGLE day of that year, that they were going to stay together as one. Marriage is a constant choice -which makes it that much more of a celebration. Thank you Matheau for our 13 years. I love you.

Picking flowers…

One of our favorite past times…

I had another post which is missing -really weird…. Life is a bit hectic right now, I’m gearing up for a lot of changes, lots of things to say, just too little time. Hopefully I will get the missing post back soon.

The bridge…

For the past year, the kids have been wanting to cross this bridge. It goes over the highway into Fort Scott. Well, I had told them this spring we would do it the first Friday of swim lessons. So yesterday was the day. All of them woke up excited and thinking about going across. Mixed with their excitement was a bit of nervousness. It had seemed so high to them, at one point Allison said she thought she might wait. Well, she didn’t. Nor did any of the others. We celebrated facing their fears with some Jones Soda and swim lessons.

I know Lizzie is blurry, but she is always on the move.

And I have meant to post this for a couple of weeks. I haven’t scrapped in for a long time. I miss it, but it doesn’t always fit in. The other day, I had the urge and I gave myself 10 minutes (that included finding all my supplies…). It is an 8 1/2 by 8 1/2 layout. I am going to try to get some pages into the cool Amy Butler album Aubin surprised me with for my birthday.

Supplies: mostly from my stash. I used a 7gypsies stamp for the circle with lines, and I gently put some stickers down and traced them for Liz’s name and then removed them and added some dots at various places. The bling is from Heidi Swapp.

Summer fun with Daddy-o.

Once the pool opens up in the summer, Matheau makes sure we are there at least several times a week. We all love it. It is amazing how much the kids swimming skills improve after a couple of weeks at the pool.

The old tradition of golf in the evenings started back up again this past week. The last summer Matheau and the kids played was when Lizzie was only able to crawl around and try to eat the practice balls… not this summer!

Happy Independence Day.

I am so thankful for the freedoms my family and I share by the blessing of being born in America. When I compare it to so many other countries around the world, it humbles me to know that some of the issues that we Americans argue over and spend so much money and time on, whether wrong or right, are not even a possibility elsewhere.
